SMALHB, PTEM Emerged Winners of Dikir Dabaie Competition

SENGKURONG, BRUNEI-MUARA
The Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) and Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM) emerged as the first place winners in the Male and Female Category respectively for the Dikir Dabaie Competition Finals yesterday at the Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre.
The event's guest of honour who presented the winners with their prizes was Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE).
A speech was also delivered by the Principal of Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, Cikgu Haji Ismail bin Haji Zainal, in which he mentioned that a total of nine groups competed in the male category, while eight groups competed in the female category.
The principal also highlighted some of the event's objectives, which included encouraging students to continuously foster their interest in Dikir and Qasidah, as well as being able to perform it perfectly, and to unearth the students' talents and potential to further be guided and polished onto the next level. Other aims include teaching the students religious activities and a healthy culture, so that they can avoid carrying out activities that are against the country's religion, tradition and culture, while supporting the concept of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) towards realising His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's wishes for a Zikir Nation.
The competition also saw Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre placing second in the Male Category and SMALHB placed second in the Female Category.
Meanwhile, third place in the Male and Female Category went to Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli) and Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre respectively.
