As Brunei celebrates the 70th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, religious authorities have urged the people to pray for the monarch's well-being, health and longevity.

In yesterday's Friday sermon, Imams prayed for His Majesty to continue ruling the country and its people wisely, with the blessings of Allah the Almighty.

"The country is peaceful and prosperous under the leadership of His Majesty who has always emphasised the welfare and care of the people," said Imams during the sermon.

The sermon also mentioned the fact that the monarch had emphasised the teachings of Islam in Brunei's administration and laws.

"We should be aware that the blessings will not last forever, and the people will need to uphold and maintain it.

"Citizens and residents in this country are fortunate to have a wise and just leader who strives to develop the country in line with other countries in many fields such as politics, economy, education, religious matters and health.

"We should be loyal to the monarch, carry it out it with sincerity and always give our firm support, in order to establish a progressive and successful country, for us to be safe now and in the hereafter," the sermon concluded.
