July 5 Set for the Sighting of Syawal New Moon

The date for sighting of the Syawal new moon to determine Aidilfitri has been set for July 5 or 29th of Ramadhan 1437 Hijrah.


Syar'ie judges and officials from the Syariah Courts, State Judicial Department along with officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Survey Department, Ministry of Development and the State Mufti's Office, Prime Minister's Office will be at selected vantage points to sight the moon.


They will be at the DST Tower, the DST Headquarters, Tungku Highway, Bukit Agok in Jerudong in the Brunei-Muara District, Bukit Lumut in the Belait District and Bukit Ambok in the Tutong District.


The result of the sighting will be announced on Radio Televisyen Brunei. Members of the public are asked to give their cooperation by not venturing near those areas.
