KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA
Police are investigating reports lodged against Pahang mufti Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman for his remarks on kafir harbi (non-Muslims who can be slain) for sedition.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said two reports had been made against the mufti over his remarks labelling the DAP as kafir harbi .
The reports were lodged in Dang Wangi and Penang recently.
“I urge everyone not to make any statement that can compromise racial and religious harmony in the country.
“As a multi-racial and multi-religious country, we should refrain ourselves from hurting one another with our words and actions," he said after receiving 300 helmets, sponsored by Celcom Axiata, on behalf of the Kuala Lumpur traffic police.
Abdul Rahman has been criticised by various quarters for labeling the non-believers, in particular DAP, as kafir harbi for objecting to the Private Member’s Bill on Syariah court amendments tabled by PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang.
His remark also drew ire from politicians across the divide, with some lodging police reports against him for "incitement".
