JAPEM Hosted a Sungkai for Underprivileged, Special Needs Indiviuals

In line with its policy of looking after the welfare of special needs individuals and those less privileged in the country, the Community Development Department (JAPEM) with non-government and private sector organisations jointly hosted a Sungkai event at the Muhibbah Hall in Old Airport Road, Berakas yesterday.
Present as guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
During the event, the minister with his spouse, together with other sponsoring representatives also handed over donations and basic necessities to some 300 individuals who attended the event, spanning from special needs individuals from Pusat Bahagia and also residents of JAPEM's Welfare Housing Complex.
Earlier, a mass Tahlil recitation was held to remember those who have departed led by Ustaz Mohd Shahrin bin Haji Sulaiman, Head Religious Teacher at the Welfare Housing Complex.
The event yesterday was made possible through the generous contributions from Borneo United Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Hasmit Electrical Engineering & Lighting Sdn Bhd, NIE Sdn Bhd and Baiduri Bank Group.
Also present at the event was Datin Paduka Dr. Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Awang Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
