Muslims were urged to intensify their religious activities, while marking the last 10 nights of the holy month of Ramadhan, in which there is "one night better than a thousand nights".

Imams in yesterday's Friday sermon said that Muslims should seek to gain blessings from this special night, known as 'the Night of Decree' (Lailatul Qadar), by engaging in more acts of piety and worship.

According to Muslim scholars, Lailatul Qadar occurs on one night during the last 10 odd nights of Ramadhan, which are the 215t, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th.

The sermon also mentioned several signs pointing to an occurrence of Lailatul Qadar, such as a calm, peaceful night, and the sun rising on the following morning with a weak, white light without any radiant beams.

"We should make use of this opportunity to increase prayers, reading of the Al-Quran, remembrance (Zikir), and seeking forgiveness from Allah the Almighty," the sermon concluded.
