SINGAPORE

DPMM FC climbed up to third via goal difference after racking an emphatic 4-1 victory over Balestier Khalsa FC in the S League at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore last night.

Boarding an early flight to Singapore days before match-day has indeed proved to be an inspiring choice and as a reward they will resume the league in third place with 22 points as the season undergoes a month-long break.

Victory had guaranteed the S League holders level in points with Home United FC and Hougang United FC after the pair suffered defeats in the same week.

The only notable moment for Balestier Khalsa in the first half was a decent volley by Ho Wai Loon in the 8th minute which DPMM FC goalkeeping custodian Wardun Yussof dealt with.

DPMM FC took the lead after Rafael Ramazotti matched the precision of Azwan Salleh's delightful cross with a powerful header in the 18th minute.

The club's top scorer converted the second goal of the night with a tidy finish after some good work from strike partner Paulo Sergio.

The 'Gegar Gegar' men raced to a 3-0 lead after Sergio slammed the ball home as Azwan Ali's corner caused a meltdown in the Balestier defence.

The visitors broke for a counter as Azwan Ali fed the onrushing Azwan Salleh but the combustible fullback fluffed his lines.

The Tigers were awarded a penalty after Wardun tripped Miroslav Kristic in the 55th minute and Emir Lotinac made no mistake from the spot.

Balestier defender Fadli Kamis rose high to meet Jamil Ali free kick but Wardun produced the goods to prevent a second goal.

Rafael Ramazotti bagged his hat-trick after slotting home the rebound initially from Maududi Hilmi

Meanwhile, Tampines Rovers FC cut the gap to four points in the top-of-the-table clash with league leaders Albirex Niigata (S) following a 1-0 win courtesy of Fazrul Nawaz.
