The family of Orang Kaya Sanudin bin Mahmud recently held a Tahlil and Doa Arwah gathering at the Community Hall of Kampong Bengkurong.

Over 500 family members and relatives attended.

Orang Kaya Sanudin was the former village head of Kampong Kilanas during the reign of Sultan Hashim.

The gathering has been conducted since 2014 on a rotational basis. This year's annual activity was organised by the predecessors and family members of Dayang Damit, the third wife of the late Orang Kaya Sanudin.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and continued with a welcome speech by the chairman of the ceremony, Haji Rahmad bin Haji Japar.

It was followed by the presentation of donations and gifts to the heirs of Orang Kaya Sanudin that included 17 elderly people who are 70 years old, 21 aged 60 to 69 years old, four widows and five orphans.

Recitations of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah were led by Imam Haji Isa bin Haji Saban.

A religious talk was delivered by Ustaz Yusoff bin Abdul Majid, highlighting on thankful Ummah, followed by the breaking of fast.

The event ended with a closing prayer.

It is an annual project to cultivate closer rapport among the beneficiaries, by introducing the children, grandchildren and relatives at the event.

The ceremony aims to nurture cooperation among the heirs of the family in handling certain events or occasions, such as religious activities and others, to instil a sense of care for the orphans and the elderly and to glorify the month of Ramadhan.
