Vietnam’s President Lays Wreath At Unknown Soldiers’ Monument

Vietnamese president Tran Dai Quang and his entourage on Monday Jun 13 laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument (Daodeng) to show respect for the deeds and dedication of Lao ancestors who dedicated their lives for the national revolution and liberation in the past.
The Vietnamese President also laid separate baskets of flowers at the Souphanouvong Memorial and at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum.
On the same day, the Vietnamese President visited Champassak and met with former President Khamtay Siphandone, and visited the Vietnam-Laos Special Military Alliance Monument, a Lao Vietnam latex processing factory, and a coffee factory of the Dao Heuang Group.
Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang arrived in Vientiane on Sunday for a three-day visit to strengthen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments and people of Laos and Vietnam.
At a bilateral meeting with his Lao counterpart Bounnhang Vorachit, the two state leaders appreciated and highly valued the fruitful cooperation the two countries have maintained and nurtured over the past years.
Both sides agreed to promote regular exchanges of visits at all levels and maintain peace along common borders.
They committed to better cooperation on preventing transnational crimes, human trafficking, the trans-boundary smuggling of drugs and other goods, and the illegal exploitation of natural resources across common borders.
They also agreed to attach greater importance to addressing illegal settlements and illegal marriages of people living along border areas and to further enhance cooperation in economics, trade, and investment to achieve goals set by the two governments.
The state leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation on the development of road connectivity to improve land transportation between the two countries and to increase the quality of cooperation in the educational sphere in a highly effective manner, especially in the education of students studying in each other’s countries
Both sides noted that 2017 constitutes an important year as the two countries will commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
On the first day of his visit to Laos, the Vietnamese President also met with Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the National Assembly Mrs. Pany Yathotou, and former President Choummaly Sayasone.
