The victories achieved by Colombia'  s national and U-23 soccer teams at international games were highlighted on Wednesday by local press.

The U-23 men' s team qualified to Rio 2016 Olympics by defeating United States with a 2-1 score, while the national team defeated Ecuador with a score of 3-1. Both games were held on Tuesday.

Local press highlighted the words of Argentine coach Jose Nestor Pekerman, who leads the big team and said the result could have been a more spectacular victory.

Colombia showed a good offensive game against Ecuador and took advantage of the capacity of its players, said Pekerman.

With the Tuesday result, Colombia is third in the qualifier together with Chile. The six best teams of the South American region will get a ticket for Russia 2016.

The U-23 team will return to Olympics after 24 years with the victory against the U.S. on Tuesday. The last time Colombian U-23 squad went to Olympic Games was in Barcelona 1992.
