As part of creating awareness about diabetes among the public, a forum on Diabetes and Ramadhan was organised yesterday at the Atrium of Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health (MoH).

In year 2012, diabetes led to the death of 1.5 million people worldwide and according to estimation from World Health Organization (WHO), diabetes will become seventh largest cause of death by 2030.

The forum discussed precautions to be taken by diabetic patients during the Ramadhan fasting month. Panel members consisted of nurses and nutritionists who are involved in diabetes treatment.

The topics discussed during the forum were 'Diabetes treatment during the month of Ramadhan' by Dayang Hajah Shukriah binti Haji Selamat, 'Controlling the diet for the break of fast' by Dayang Ernie Asyura binti Hassan and 'Procedures to do physical activities during Ramadhan' by Awang Noor Azwan bin Ismail.
