France Awards Plaque to Vientiane Secondary School

VIENTIANE, LAOS
The French government last Saturday presented a plaque to Vientiane Secondary School in recognition of its excellent French learning-teaching quality and excellent learning and teaching performance.
Vientiane Secondary School is the first school in Laos and in the French speaking community in the Asia-Pacific region to have been awarded such an award.
The presentation of the award was also to mark International Francophonie Day, 2016.
The award was presented by the Ambassador of France to Laos Claudine Ledoux to representatives of Vientiane Secondary School in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Lytou Bouapao, Director General of Europe and America Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khouanta Phalivong, teachers and students.
“We are very proud as this reward brings reputation to our nation. This allows many residents of French speaking countries in the world to learn more about Laos and makes the school a good example for other public and private schools in the country,” said French language teacher Khamsoy Vongsamphanh.
There are almost 3,000 students studying at matthayom 1 through 7 levels at the Vientiane Secondary School. They are taught by 168 teachers including 25 French teachers.
The school operates 80 classrooms in total, including 15 bilingual classrooms, and 14 for gifted students’.
