KUALA BELAIT

An anti-smoking awareness campaign was organised for the employees of Mashhor General Contractor on Thursday in collaboration with the Health Promotion Centre (HPC), Ministry of Health (MoH).

Hajah Mahanum binti Dato Haji Abu Zar from the HPC gave a presentation on the Tobacco Order Act that aims to assist smokers in controlling their addiction and possibly to reduce and finally to cease and stop smoking.

In a press release, the company said the objective of the campaign is to promote a healthy lifestyle and clean environment for the workplace, employees and clients by protecting them from second-hand smoking.

As several nationalities work at Mashhor, the company had arranged Malay and English sessions for campaign.

Mashhor has banned smoking on its premises since last year to comply with the MoH regulations and policies towards the prohibition of smoking in workplaces, worksites and public areas, the press release said.
