Baiduri Bank Personnel Learned Basic Control and Restraint Techniques

One of Baiduri Bank Group's long term human resource objectives is to continuously improve the skills and wellbeing of its workforce, ensuring safety for its customers and staff.
From May 17-19, 2016, the group held its first ever 'Basic Control and Restraint Techniques' workshop at Youth Centre, organised by the Learning and Development Centre, HR Department and Security Control Centre of Baiduri Bank Group in collaboration with the Prisons Department, Ministry of Home Affairs.
The three-day workshop was conducted by eight instructors, including prison and non-commissioned officers, lead by a head instructor.
It was attended by 12 Baiduri staff members from various departments, including Pengiran Haji Shadan bin Pengiran Haji Yakub, Head of Baiduri Bank's Security Control Centre. Participants were taught basic self-defence techniques without the use of weapons to protect themselves, and with minimal injury caused to the other party, should they encounter any unfavorable situations.
Elaborating on the workshop, instructor Sargeant Rohaidah Hasali said, "Brunei is generally a peaceful country but it is always good to be prepared for the possibility of encountering aggressive and difficult people. In the workshop, we shared some techniques that can be used to manage confrontational situations." One technique taught was the 'defensive posture', a method that can effectively control and restrain aggressive people.
All of the 12 Baiduri participants enjoyed the highly interactive and experiential workshop as they learnt the theoretical aspect of self-defence as well as physical and practical techniques !Pr use in potential situations they may encounter. Zai nab Haji Mirasan, Manager of Retail ( ion Unit, Baiduri Bank, said, "I have gained valuable knowledge and skills and will print; these back to the office and pass it on to my colleagues."
Likewise, the instructors also enjoyed teaching the group, adding that the Baiduri participants were fast learners.
