TUNGKU LINK, BRUNEI-MUARA
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through the Faculty of Science (FOS) and in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Material Science (CAMES), will host a public lecture by Eminent Visiting Professor Mohammad K Nazeeruddin, who will speak on 'Perovskite solar cells: An Alternative to Silicon Solar Cells?' today at the Senate Room, Chancellor Hall.
Perovskite materials used in solar cells involve low-cost precursors, capable of being processed through a variety of scalable methods on glass or flexible substrates to deliver high-power conversion efficiencies, compared to thin film solar cells.
The lecture is open to all members of the public, particularly academics studying energy studies, officials and professionals in the energy sector as well as those interested in alternative energy.
During his one-week, two-day visit as an Eminent Visiting Professor at FOS and CAMES, Prof Nazeeruddin will also visit research labs in the Physics Department, as well as the Centre of Advanced Materials and Energy Sciences to meet with UBD researchers.
UBD has signed 'star' professors - world-renowned experts in their respective academic fields - through the Eminent Visiting Professorship and Visiting Appointment (EVPVA) scheme to boost the quality of research and teaching at the university.
So far, UBD has signed Prof Dr. Victor King in Sociology and Anthropology, Prof Dr. Euston Quah in Economics, and Prof Deborah Hughes-Hallet in Mathematics, among others to teach and undertake research at UBD.
