BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA
Tabuan 'A' established a four-point lead at the summit of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Under-16 Youth League following a 2-1 win over Rimba Star at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex recently.
Md Syazwan and Hafizul Razi put Tabuan 'A' in command of the game but Md Hibatur Rahman dragged a lifeline for Rimba Star which turned to be a mere consolation.
Tabuan 'B' lost further ground in the championship race after falling to a 1-0 loss to PIP in a second successive defeat since losing their unbeaten status to their 'A' rivals on Friday.
Their second loss in as many games represents a major speedbump to their title interest who had started the week joint top.
Abdul Hakeem solitary effort helped PIP climb to second in the table with 15 points with Tabuan 'B' now six points adrift from the league leaders.
Al Idrus Junior, the only side who have prevented the two Tabuan sides from scoring, dropped to sixth after losing 1-0 to Kasuka FC with Md Sherzaman's 9th minute strike proving the difference.
Perda FC and Besa FC remain with one win each in the entire season thus far after both sides earned share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Syed Fakhrullah Mashor opened the scoring for Besa in the seventh minute but Md Fayyadh levelled the tie for Perda a couple of minutes later.
BTC Redstar and Kilanas FC Junior are the only sides yet to register a victory after the pair cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw with Md Ansuddin netting for the former and Md Hamizan for the latter.
PIP's Md Rizauddin Sukarnie bin Raizal remain top of the goal-scoring chart despite failing to find the net in the 1-0 win to Tabuan 'B'
Tabuan 'B' and BTC Redstar also remain the most disciplined of the league as neither team have the identity of the players being jotted down in the referee's books with seven matches gone.
Tabuan 'A' face another stern test in match-day eight which would prove PIP credentials as both sides lock horns in a top-of-the table clash on Friday.
PIP, who enjoy a two-game winning run, could cut undefeated Tabuan lead at the top of the Youth League table to just a single point but a win for the national development side could see them race seven points clear.
