The Magistrate's Court yesterday ordered a local couple to pay a fine of B$1,300 each, or serve two months' jail in default, after they pleaded guilty to consuming Class A drug Syabu.

Narcotics Control Bureau officers raided a place in Kampong Burong Lapas at 1.40am on August 6, 2013 based on information from the Intelligence Unit of the bureau.

The officers detained Ramlee bin Sulaiman and Hazira binti Abdullah inside a car in the vicinity but did not find any drug-related items during body search and inspection of the surroundings.

However, interrogation of the couple led to their confession to consumption of Syabu. Their urine samples also tested positive for the drug.
