Muslims in the country will have the opportunity to enjoy the Personal Gift of Dates from His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam while breaking their fast during the upcoming month of Ramadan. The process of distributing the His Majesty's personal gift of dates to mukim penghulus and village chiefs are actively being carried out before the dates are distributed to the muslim citizens and residents in the country.

In the Brunei Muara District, the date's delivery at the Community Hall of the Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme began yesterday. The delivery was carried out by the Brunei Muara District Office. In Brunei Muara District only, more than 106 villages out of 17 mukims will receive the dates through the respective penghulus and village chiefs.

This year, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah has purchased 157 point 8 metric tonnes of Safawi dates. From the number 5 hundred and 26 thousand small boxes of dates will be distributed to the country's muslim population including foreign workers. Every recipient will receive a 300 gram box of dates regardless of age.

Village residents who have just moved to national housing areas or new locations are advised to obtain their dates at the residence of the village chief of their previous address. The method of distribution currently carried out will ensure that the process of distributing His Majesty's personal gift of dates will be done in a more systematic and organised manner.
