His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, NFABD, as the Advisor of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy For ASEAN Youth Football Championship or HBT 2018 Executive Committee, in a sabda expressed hope that the national football team can show excellent performance at the said competition that will commence this Monday. At a meeting with the national football team yesterday morning, His Royal Highness in the sabda stressed that national squad should focus and make preparations so that they can give good competition.

The function began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and doa selamat by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang.

In a welcoming speech, Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports among other things said that the players should have strong will and spirit to be competitive, and each players should also understand one another, work together and unite as a team.

In the sabda, His Royal Highness stressed the need for the national football team to further improve their fitness and take care of their health. His Royal Highness urged the players to consolidate their teamwork spirit, as His Royal Highness believed that that with teamwork, it will yield huge success. Brunei Darussalam was crowned as the champion HBT's fourth edition in 2012. The championship aims to uphold the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, which is to involve the best teams in the ASEAN region and compete in the Southeast Asia football league. Apart from that, the championship also provides exposure on ASEAN's sports capabilities to the world. Apart from the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, HBT will also take place at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

At this function, His Royal Highness performed the Sunat Hajat prayer together with the players as part of the preparation for the upcoming championship. The national team will meet Timor Leste in the opening match this Monday, starting at 8.30 in the evening.
