This year's World Forestry Day celebration organised by the Forestry Department was held at the Jalan Menteri Besar Recreational Park. The celebration not only aims to raise awareness on the importance of forests in terms of its conservation, but also on the benefits it offers as a natural resource.

Present at the event was Dayang Noralinda binti Haji Ibrahim, Acting Director of Forestry. The celebration was filled with tree planting activities around the Recreational Park, where 213 saplings of local tree species were planted. The number of trees planted depicts the date of World Forestry Day which is celebrated on every 21st of March. The tree planting activity was also participated by officers and staff from the Forestry Department, Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, Health Promotion Centre, managers of sawmill companies and mangrove entrepreneurs.
