Issue Of 'E-Payment Gateway' Implementation

 March 20th, 2018  |  10:05 AM  |   565 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The E-payment gateway is one of the most needed methods during the technology explosion in this digital economy era.  Replying to a query by Yang Berhormat Awang Ong Tiong Oh, the Minister of Communications explained that with the increasing number of parcel deliveries, like the rest of the world, Brunei Darussalam is using the said method.

The Minister said parcel deliveries have increased from 225 thousand in 2010 to almost half a million or four hundred ninety two thousand and six hundred in 2016.  This figure continues to increase every year while the delivery of letters is on the downward trend.  According to the Minister this is a challenge that requires re-skilling of staff and officers of the Postal Services Department to handle the "Explosion of E- Commerce" where parcels actually comprise of goods ordered online.
