Before deliberating the proposed allocation for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Council has approved the budget for the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism amounting to more than 54 million dollars. For the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of more than 256 million dollars has been allocated for the Financial Year 2018/2019 including more than 20 million dollars in development budget. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, while presenting the Ministry's budget allocation, also outlined 5 main functions for religious affairs services.

Yang Berhormat Pehin said the Ministry will try to optimise the supported estimated allocation to carry out programmes in 5 main functions for religious affairs services. Firstly, management and administration which cover policy and administration management, haj management, asset management, maintenance of information technology systems and management of districts religious affairs, with the allocation of 19 million, 928 thousand, 830 dollars. Secondly, an allocation of 24 million 875 thousand 325 dollars for propagation of Dakwah and Islamic Eminence, which covers Islamic Major events celebration, mosque takmir, and Dakwah propagation. Thirdly, Islamic laws which include Brunei Islamic Religious Council, Islamic Laws, Prosecution, and enforcement with an allocation of 6 million 109 thousand 990 dollars. Fourthly, functions for religious affairs services namely Social Security has been allocated 5 million 922 thousand 450 dollars covering Halal Food and Goods, family counseling services and tithe collection and distribution. Lastly, an allocation of 179 million 388 thousand 985 dollars has been given for Islamic education.
