Get-Together Marking Chinese New Year

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, graced a get-together marking the Chinese New Year. The occasion was hosted by the Chinese Community and took place yesterday morning at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
On arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty were greeted by Yang Berhormat Awang Ong Tiong Oh, a member of the Legislative Council and Honorary President of the organising committee; and Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Goh King Chin, Honorary Advisor, and other organising committee members.
The royal entourage included His Majesty's children and His Majesty's brothers and sisters;
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;
His Royal Highness Pengiran Muda 'Abdul Malik;
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah;
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna,
AND Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam, as well as other members of the Royal Family.
His Majesty's and Her Majesty's presence at the occasion reflects the Monarch's continuous attention and close rapport with the multi-faceted community in the country. Shortly after their arrival, His Majesty and Her Majesty received a pasambah.
Various cultural shows including dances, poetry declamation and the Chinese martial arts Wushu were performed by students of the Chung Hwa Secondary School based in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Chinese Community, supported by the young generation who portray the Bruneian identity, have been able to adapt to the national aspiration and essential prerequisite in the various lifestyle in conformation with the Malay Islamic Monarchy MIB concept. They also continuously strive to enhance their understanding on every element and good virtuous in the MIP philosophy through myriad incentives, such as translating a Malay-written MIB book "Satu Pendekatan" into the Chinese language in October last year.
The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam greatly appreciate the Chinese Community's role in contributing to the economic growth through trade and business, as well as implementing their social responsibility in creating a harmonious and peaceful environment in the country. The Chinese Community also play an important role as a stakeholder and strategic partner in realising the Wawasan Negara 2035.
The solid unity, cooperation and harmony among the country's rakyat and residents, including the Chinese Community, is clearly evident at the get-together. The long-established coherence is hoped to be maintained and uphold by the future generation. Such a solidarity - illustrated at this reception - is due to the wise leadership of His Majesty who always prioritise the harmony and prosperity of the multi-racial rakyat and residents.
