LABUAN, SABAH

A fire broke out at the abandoned Hotel Labuan here on Saturday.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Service Department director Jainal @ Zainal Madasin said their operation centre received a distress call at 5.17pm about the incident.

“When our personnel reached the scene, the fire was blazing from the first floor of the hotel. Applying an offensive technique, our personnel went into the building to locate the cause of the fire,” he said, adding that the fire was put under control at 6.05pm, while the operation ended at 9.48pm.

Two years ago, a similar incident occurred at the hotel which is now a question mark among the people of Labuan whether it will be redeveloped or not.
