Zairil Khir Johari has announced his engagement to Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

Taking to Facebook, the DAP national assistant publicity secretary said that he was deeply honoured to have his family and closest friends with him in Ipoh to celebrate his engagement

He said that it was a most special occasion and that he was glad to have the support of those dearest to him.

"They say when one door closes, another one opens. And so it has been since my marriage was dissolved last year. Such is life, and we keep moving forward.

Zairil is also Penang DAP vice-chairman and Bukit Bendera MP while Dyana Sofya is a DAP Socialist Youth national executive committee member.

Their engagement ceremony is being held at a prominent hotel in Ipoh.

Talk was rife that the two were getting engaged.

The pair had tolerated the prying eyes of the public for years, with numerous exposes with grainy and badly taken photographs and videos showing couples who look a lot like them in cosy situations.

Both had denied it was them in each instance and derided the claims as gutter politics.
