Statement On Contaminated Rock Melon In New South Wales, Australia

Following report regarding contaminated Rock Melon with the virus "Listeria" in New South Wales, Australia, which killed three people, the Agriculture and Agrifood Department issued a statement to clarify the matter.
The statement said that Brunei Darussalam does not import Rock Melon from the virus-affected farms. The assurance comes following a thorough investigation and contact with the relevant agencies in Australia to get a firm information. The department also assures the public that fruits imported from farms in Australia are safe for consumption. According to Australia's Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, fruits exported to Brunei have undergone stringent tests to ensure the products are free from contamination and the virus "Listeria".
