The kitchen floor is definately not the first place you would expect to find a goldfish.
But for Bex Cox, from Easton, Bristol, that is exactly what happened, and she is now trying to solve the mystery of where the little fish came from
She suspects her cat Thor might have something to do with this one, but considering he can’t speak, she is having to do some investigating on her own.
Bex has so far made some guesses as to where Fred the fish, as he has since been named, has come from.
Fred was found alive and looking like, well, a fish out of water.
Thor was patiently sitting next to his hostage, who Bex suspects may have found some way to pinch him from a nearby fish pond.
The little fishie was scooped up and put in the best thing Bex could find as a temporary home, a saucepan.
Now she is appealing for anyone who may have lost a goldfish to get in touch with her, as she is keen to return Fred to his home, away from the deadly jaws of Thor.
However, she is aware that she could hit some barriers in finding Fred’s home.
‘The thing is he looks identical to pretty much every fish in the pond,” she told the Bristol Post.
But Bex likes to think that Thor was actually helping little Fred as he appeared during the cold snap, when fish could freeze in the icy ponds.
‘I have come to the conclusion that Thor actually saved the fish,” she said.
‘He carried it through X-amount of gardens, with it flapping in his mouth, yet didn’t stick his teeth through it, and dropped it on our kitchen floor ready for us to save.’
‘Maybe it was flapping about at the top of a frozen pond, so he thought he’d bring it home to us to look after. He’s never brought anything in before.’ she added.
Thankfully, Fred has not had to remain in a saucepan and has been temporarily rehomed at a friend’s, who has proper a proper fish tank.
