Miri Bomba Run 4th edition scheduled for May 13

The Miri Fire and Rescue Zone 6 Recreation and Welfare Club is inviting avid runners from Miri and its surrounding areas to help them raise funds for charitable homes by running in the fourth edition of Bomba Run scheduled for May 13 this year.

 

The club has assisted the less fortunate in society through the run for the past three years.

 

“We aim to register a total of 2,500 runners and raise RM15,000,” Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong told reporters at the soft launch of Bomba Run 4.0 at Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station here yesterday.

 

The money will go to the department’s Fire Safety Awareness Campaign and to three beneficiaries: Morsjaya community-based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK), Pusat Jagaan Anak Kesayangan Kami, and Diabetes Malaysia Miri Branch.

 

“Bomba Run 4.0 is to be held in conjunction with the International FireFighters’ Day on May 4.

 

“It is also part of activities for Visit Miri Year this year to boost the city’s tourism sector,” added Law.

 

Miri Mayor Adam Yii pointed out that the run which is on Miri city calendar has been receiving encouraging response for three consecutive years.

 

“The city council wants more people to respond to the event this year,” said Yii.

 

Representatives of various sponsors and supporters including Bulatan Park Runners’ Club, Batu Niah Lions’ Club, Share Tea Boulevard Commercial Centre, Indocafe, Sea-Coconut Lozenges, Harvana and Ultron were among those present at the ceremony officiated by Yii.

 

Registration of runners from various age groups is now open for the 12km Men’s Open, 12km Women’s Open, 12 km Men’s Veteran, 12 km Women’s Veteran, 12 km Junior Boy, 12 km Junior Girl, 4 km Kid Boy, 4 km Kid Girl and 4 km Fun Run categories which will flag off from Marina Parkcity here.

 

For the 12 km Men’s Open, 12 km Women’s Open, 12 km Men’s Veteran, 12 km Women’s Veteran, registration is RM55 for early birds registering from March 1 to April 1, while RM65 for those registering from April 2 to 8.

 

For 12 km Junior Boy, 12 km Junior Girl, 4 km Kid Boy, 4 km Kid Girl, registration is RM50 for early birds registering from March 1 to April 1, while RM60 for those registering from

 

April 2 to 8.

 

Runners regardless of age, including kids below four years old, can also participate in the fun run free of charge. Parents can only register their children (below 4 years old) via walk-in registration to be completed with a copy of their children’s birth certificate.

 

Prize money will be awarded to the Top 10 or winners for all running categories, except for the fun run.

 

Every participant will receive a uniquely designed Ultron T-shirt, door gift, bib and insurance upon signing up and a beautifully designed finisher medal and e-certificate upon completion of the run. Participants of the fun run will not receive a finisher medal and bib.
