BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
265 students of the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School, SMALHB who passed the Brunei Higher Certificate of Religious Education, STUPB and the BC GCE 'A' Levels were feted at a Certificates Presentation Ceremony yesterday morning. 113 of them achieved Mumtaz or Excellent grades, 78 achieved Jayyid Jiddan or Very Good grades; 59 achieved Jayyid or Good grades and 15 achieved Maqbul or Pass grades. 35 other students received their BC GCE 'A' Levels certificates. Five of the excellent students in the STUPB examinations were recipients' aid from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB, the Community Development Department and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The ceremony took place at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School in Kampung Katok.
The certificates were presented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs. The ceremony coincided with the presnetation of Special Student Award and Exemplary Student Award 2016 -2017. Also in attendance were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Dr. Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, the Acting Ra'es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College. In interviews with RTB, a number of students shared the key of their success was the support and encouragement of their parents and teachers.
