BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Attempting to commit suicide is an offence which can be charged under Section 309, Chapter 22 of the Criminal Penal Code which carries a sentence of one year imprisonment, a fine or both. The matter was shared during a media conference by the Royal Brunei Police Force last night regarding a report of a man attempting to commit suicide with a sharp object. The Tutong Police Station received the report at 1.20 p.m. yesterday afternoon through its hotline 993. The media conference was held at the Headquarters of the Brunei Muara Police District in Bandar Seri Begawan.

In his statement, the Assistant Officer Commanding Police District of Tutong led by Chief Inspector Shamsul Nahar bin Haji Idris together with three other assistant investigators had successfully prevented the suicide attempt.

Also present at the media conference was Chief Inspector Shamsul Nahar bin Haji Idris, Officer in Charge of the Tutong Police Station. The Royal Brunei Police Force reminds the public to get immediate help from the relevant parties if they observe any behavioural changes on their family members.
