Hoisting Of Giant Sized National Flag

On the 24th of this month, Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan will be the focus for the Brunei Darussalam 34th National Day Celebration Grand Assembly. In conjunction with the celebration, the hoisting of the giant sized national flag was held yesterday morning at the Open Area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Peliharakan Sultan and Negara, led by Mudim Awang Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh, a mosque affairs officer from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of the National Day Celebration Executive Committee. The giant sized national flag, measuring 12 feet by 24 feet, was raised by personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy, followed by the singing of the Brunei Darussalam National Anthem by students from the Berakas Secondary School choir group and the Royal Brunei Police Force band.
Yang Berhormat then handed over normal sized national flags and National Day Celebration posters to District Officers and Acting District Officers from the four districts. Also present were members of the celebration's executive committee, members of the legislative council, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, district officers, representatives of government departments and private agencies, mukim penghulus and village chiefs. Starting today, the country's citizens and residents are required to hoist the national flag at houses as well as office buildings and business premises. Meanwhile, Pengirans and people bestowed with titles should raise their personal flags. The lighting up of decorative neon lights at government buildings and the private sector also begins tonight.
