A sports utility vehicle (SUV) was destroyed after it caught fire following a collision with a pickup truck here yesterday morning.

The incident happened around 6.45am at a traffic light intersection in front of a petrol station in Permyjaya when the SUV rammed into the rear of the pickup truck.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said its personnel were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 6.48am.

“Firemen arrived at the scene to discover the SUV engulfed in flames. Both drivers managed to escape unhurt. The fire was put out shortly after, but the SUV was totally destroyed.”

The pickup truck was not affected by the fire.
