An immigrant from Bangladesh, who is accused of attempting to bomb New York City subway system, on Thursday pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges.
Akayed Ullah, 27, entered the plea a day after he was indicted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York on six-count charges, including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and bomb a public transportation system.
Ullah detonated a homemade explosive device on Dec. 11, 2017 in an underground walkway connecting two subway lines beneath the Port Authority bus terminal, injuring five people. He is expected back in court on April 13 for a status conference.
