The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports continues to give moral and material support towards developing the local creative industry so that it can cross over to other developed countries globally. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports said that arts is an impact of a country or race's civilisation, moving towards a modern and respected country. A collaboration of young, teen and adult artists, explained Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohamad Yusof, are the continuing generation of the local arts.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi said the noble efforts and success of the organisers in gathering the participation and visual arts works from various art genres, performances and others into one activity in the form of an exhibition and sales will certainly make a community of the arts as well as generate the economy. As a non-profit arts foundation, it has helped locals to make a career, be independent and not depend solely on assistance from any parties. Thus with the latest whole of nation approach, it will be able to contribute to the country's development. Participation in the arts specifically paintings and performances, regionally and internationally will continue to strengthen the efforts to uphold the nation's arts on the global front.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports made the speech at the opening of the Visual Arts Exhibition. Also present was Awang Haji Amer Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. More than 20 female artists took part in the exhibition and more than 40 visual arts compositions are showcased covering various genres and forms from realistic paintings to modern contemporary. The exhibition also brought forwards a number of talented young writers and poets who will showcase their work through poetry declamations and music called Lagu Puisi. Apart from showcasing art talents, the event also aimed to give exposure and provide experience in professional gallery management to young artists. The exhibition organised by Zakaria Omar Arts Foundation and the Brunei Art Forum is open to the public until the 31st of this month from 10 in the morning until 10 at night, except for Friday, from 10 in the morning until 12 noon and from 2 in the afternoon until 10 at night.
