Cleanliness is part of Iman or faith. Therefore, cleanliness remains a priority as it is the characteristic of a believer. Cleanliness are required and closely linked to life as well as individual religious obligations. Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs touched the matter in an interview with RTB during the Baitus-Sa'iedah Rumah Bahagia Programme in Kampung Sibut, Temburong District, yesterday morning.

 

Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz also urged the Brunei Darussalam citizens to be aware on the importance of practising cleanliness in all matters that involve themselves, either in the city, roads or even villages including the new converts housing in Kampung Sibut. The new converts are hoped to practise a healthy living towards seeking the blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala.

 

 Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz then launched the programme with tree planting and cleaning campaign around the vicinity of the rumah bahagia. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council and Awang Haji Abd Aziz bin Haji Abd Kahar, Acting Director of Islamic Da'wah Centre.

 

The Rumah Bahagia in Kampung Sibut was built on the 2nd of October 2003 with a total cost of 154 thousand and 700 dollars. It was funded by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB. The house has been occupied since the 19th of July 2004 and now hosts 3 new convert families. Such a campaign are among the initiatives to raise awareness among the new converts to be sensitive and responsible in maintaining cleanliness.
