December is usually a busy month for staff of the Civil Defence Department Malaysia.

They are on high alert to ensure public safety during the monsoon season.

For officers Christopher Stadi and Norjuliana Rabaen who monitor the safety of the general public at Damai Beach Resort in Santubong, their work is demanding.

They were met at the Control Watch Tower by the beach resort yesterday while monitoring the public from the tower.

The red flag flown at the tower is the most serious of all beach warning flags, which means serious hazards in the water due to dangerous currents or that the surf is high. — Photo by Mohd Rais Sanusi.
