KOTA KINABALU
The magistrates’ court here yesterday ordered two policemen to be remanded for six days beginning yesterday to facilitate investigations into a case of soliciting a bribe from a couple caught for close proximity.
Magistrate Cindy McJuce Balitus allowed the application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to remand the policemen, both aged 39, with the ranks of corporal and lance corporal.
The two suspects, who were assigned to Kota Kinabalu International Airport Police Station, were detained by the MACC at about 3.30pm yesterday.
They were believed to have sought a bribe of RM5,000 from the couple whom they arrested while on their rounds at the airport on Dec 3.
However, the couple only gave them RM1,000 and reported the matter to the MACC.— Bernama
