East coast flood evacuees rise

The number of flood evacuees in Kelantan rose to 13,736 as at 8am Saturday (Dec 2) compared to 13,614 a day earlier.
All the evacuees are housed at 61 relief centres in Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh and Gua Musang.
The ‘infobanjir' application of the Social Welfare Department reported that Pasir Mas had the highest number of evacuees - 9,236 from 3,909 families at 36 centres.
The infobanjir.water.gov.my portal of the Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that the level of Sungai Golok at Rantau Panjang was 10.34 metres at 8am, higher than the 10.24 metres at 9pm on Friday. The danger level is nine metres.
Terengganu saw a slight increase in the number of flood evacuees with 600 people from 169 families moved to relief centres.
The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the evacuees were located in six districts, namely Besut, Marang, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Dungun and Setiu.
Marang had the largest number of evacuees, 368 from 108 families at four centres.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that at 9am, the level of Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap, Setiu, was 21.44 metres, higher than the warning point of 20.75 metres.
The level of Sungai Chalok in Setiu was 8.10 metres, above the warning level of 7.70 metres. The level of Sungai Marang at the Pengkalan Berangan Bridge was 2.39 metres, above the warning point of 2.30 metres.
