TUTONG

Yesterday morning, representatives who took part in the ASEAN Traditional Textiles Symposium visited Kampung Kiudang in the Tutong District. Participants took a closer look at the village's tourism industry. Kampung Kiudang is one of the villages selected to receive the ASEAN Community Award based on its tourism activities, and have also took part in the Excellent Village Award.

Leading the 40-member delegation was Kebawah Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Hajjah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Almutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, Head of the Malaysian delegation.  Their visit to Gerai Muafakat Kampung Kiudang was welcomed by Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, Acting Tutong District Officer. Their visit was conducted with the cooperation of the Tutong District Tourism Coordination and Promotion Body, as well as local agencies.

The delegation also took a closer look at classes of the Kampung Kiudang Mungkom Converts Welfare Body, BASKIM at the residence of Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, member of the Legislative Council as Advisor of BASKIM.  The establishment of BASKIM was one of the efforts to enhance the convert's ukhuwah and aqidah, and improve their understanding on the religion.

The 3 MPK Herbal Tea Gallery was also in the delegation's itinerary.  The 3 MPK Herbal Tea is one of Kampung Kiudang's product under the One Village One Product, and is a health product made from the 'sambah bagangan' leaf. The culture and heritage of the village was also one of the highlights of the visit. The delegation was amazed with the traditional clothing of the Tutong and Kedayan communities that still exists until today.
