His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam this morning attended the Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran Ceremony hosted by Mukim Penghulus, Village Chiefs and Heads of Longhouses nationwide. The ceremony, held at the Tarindak D'Seni in Bandar Seri Begawan, was in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to Throne.

Upon arrival His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Co-Chairmen of the Sectoral Committee for the Celebration and District/Mukim Events in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty's Accession to Throne. Also welcoming His Majesty were members of the Legislative Council.

Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin, member of the Legislative Council, who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Gadong 'A', representing Mukim Penghulus, Village Chiefs and Heads of Longhouses throughout the country, in his welcoming remarks expressed a vow of undivided loyalty to His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Yang Berhormat added as grass-root leaders, they pledged to carry out the duties and responsibilities entrusted upon them by His Majesty to safeguard the village and mukim in ensuring the citizens and residents in the country will be able to enjoy longevity and tranquillity.

His Majesty then received a Languai as a Pasambah from Mukim Penghulus, Village Chiefs and Heads of Longhouses nationwide. Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Bokok.

The Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to the Throne has been duly carried out on the 5th of October 2017. During the Golden Jubilee Celebration, mukim penghulus and village chiefs took their respective role and actively involved in various programmes. Mukim penghulus and village chiefs play the role as the community movers for they are the catalyst to the leaders in the grass-root level in together safeguarding the well-being of the mukim and kampung as well as in looking after the welfare of the residents.

Before leaving the function, His Majesty received junjung ziarah from Mukim Penghulus, Village Chiefs and Heads of Longhouses nationwide. The ceremony was a way to congratulate His Majesty for the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne.
