Pre-Dawn Lecture

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Donating a certain amount of assets to senior citizens, orphans or people with special needs who themselves have assets and are not known as poor or destitute, is among the mistakes or confusion that occur when giving tithe. This was among the matters mentioned in the Tazkirah Subuh or Pre-Dawn Lecture during the "Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat" program titled "Menghayati Rukun Islam ke-3" or Assimilating the 3rd Pillar of Islam, early this morning at Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Joining the congregation was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of religious Affairs. The lecture delivered by Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sabtu, the Assistant Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, also explained that if the tithe has not been paid by any Muslim who is eligible to pay, it becomes his or her debt to Allah the Almighty.  The debt must be paid before the person passes away.  After that it becomes the responsibility of the person's family members or heirs.  Also present were Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof; the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Finance and Administration) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the Ministry of Religious.
