Trial Use of Smart Q System

In the efforts to further enhance service quality to customers, the Department of Immigration and National Registration, (JIPK) has announced that the trial use of Smart Q system by trial has been implemented previously at the Identity Card Section, Headquarters of the Department of Immigration and National Registration from the 31st of July 2017, has been extended to the Travel Document Section (passport), Headquarters of the Department of Immigration and National Registration since on Wednesday, the 4th of October. The system among other things aims to ease the booking slot for queue numbers for the purpose of making early applications for passports according to the set date and time. Bookings made through the Smart Q system can be done at least one day before the proposed date of application for a travel document or passport and applicants are advised to come at least 15 minutes before the booking time.


Members of the public can download the QueUP application from the Appstore or Googleplay and only need to follow simple instructions on the procedures of booking the queue number for making or renewing travel document or passport applications.


The public are also be informed that the service for walk-in applications of travel document or passport as it has been made previously, will still be operated in line with the booking service through the QueUP online application and an early booking service by phone call. Meanwhile, for the application categories comprising Persons with Disabilities, Diplomatic and Official Passport Applications, and replacement of reported missing and damaged passport, application can be made directly through walk-in to JIPK and application will be conducted at the receiving counters.


Every upcoming school holidays, the public are advised to make early planning by applying or renewing passport to avoid any difficulties and problems. It is also advised to ensure that every travel document is in good conditions and is still valid of at least 6 months before the expiry date as well as having enough empty pages in order to avoid any problems and difficulties while travelling abroad.
