Two three pointers from Caranza helped QAF basketball team secure a crucial win in overtime with a score of 107-103 against SCB basketball team in the Group C encounter of the NBT Inter-Company Basketball Tournament.

The win gave QAF basketball team a lifeline in its bid to qualify into the next round, given that they beat Digimark basketball team this Saturday.

QAF's Legaspi played the whole match without resting and scored 38 points, while his compatriot, Caranza netted 25 points.

The QAF team was forced to play a catch up game after falling behind by eight points at the end of the second quarter.

A number of costly turnovers from SCB gave QAF team the advantage and they managed to take a four points lead with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Former national team bailer Yap Chun Ping managed to hit an all important three points and Chan Shiuh Tern hit one free throw to bring SCB into overtime with both team tied at 90.

By the middle of overtime, three main SCB's players namely Chen Wee Nan, Choo Yong Jian and Wong Kim Guan were already fouled out.

Its was Caranza who emerged as the hero for QAF by hitting two three points to seal the win for his team.
In an interview, the top scorer of the QAF team Legaspi said, "It was a really tough game tonight. Both team needed the win and we managed to come up with the crucial shots to seal the game."

He added that the team chemistry is getting better as the tournament goes on and the team is looking forward to take on Digimark in a do or die match to qualify into the next round.

He also commended SCB for their good team work and fighting spirit.

Tonight will see Propel Services and Trading go against Kingston Beverages and Creamery at 7.30pm followed by Baiduri Bank versus CCS Com Services team, at the Batu Bersurat Basketball Court.
