BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

Following the morning breakfast, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and His Excellency Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and Coordinating Minister for National Security visited the Bandarku Ceria Programme around the capital.  The 'Car-free Day' Bandarku Ceria Programme was first introduced on October 2, last year with the aim of making Bandar Seri Begawan into an urban park that can be enjoyed by all level of community through activities which strengthen the family institution, apart from providing opportunities to small businesses and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

 

Earlier, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Excellency visited the Royal Wharf to witness a musical performance from Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore and viewed an exhibition organised by Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

 

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Excellency then proceeded to take a closer look at the activities organised during the Bandarku Ceria programme.

 

Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, Minister of Health; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Acting Minister of Education; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi, Acting Minister of Energy dan Industry at the Prime Minister Office; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister Office; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister Office; Retired First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Finance; and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, Deputy Minister of Development.

 

The delegation from the Republic of Singapore accompanying His Excellency were Her Excellency Grace Fu Hai Yien, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth; His Excellency Dato Paduka Seri Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Transport; His Excellency Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence; His Excellency Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and Senior Minister of State for Education; His Excellency Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Senior Minister of State for National Development; Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development; and His Excellency Lim Hong Huai, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam.

 

Before ending the visit to the Bandarku Ceria, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince received the junjung ziarah from visitors and members of associations involved in the Bandarku Ceria programme. Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore have a unique and special relationship in the area of business and education.
