His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) has consented to receive in audience His Excellency Major General T.N.I. Madsuni, the Commandant General of Komando Special Forces Unit (KOPASSUS), Indonesia Armed Forces (T.N.I.) - Land Force (TNI_AD). The audience ceremony took place at the Istana Nurul Iman.

Accompanying His Excellency Major General TNI Madsuni were Her Excellency Nurul Qomar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam and Colonel INF Lucky Avianto, Assistant Operation Commandant General, Indonesia Armed Forces - Land Force. Also present were Retired First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence; Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and Retired Captain Dato Paduka Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Royal Brunei Navy, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.

Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia enjoy close and longstanding defence relations which have grown tremendously with cooperation in the form of visits, exercises, trainings, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses. Furthermore, both Special 4-4 Forces Regiment RBAF and the KOPASSUS interact through the conduct of Exercise PETIR SAKTI, which is currently held from the 26th of October to 8th November 2017.
