21 qari and qariah will present their reading at the 8th South East Asia Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran on the 24th of this month. The participants also involving readers from the host country, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Republic of Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Singapore, Republic of the Socialist of Viet Nam, Thailand and Timor Leste. To ensure the smooth running of the event, a full rehearsal was held this afternoon at the International Convention centre in Berakas.

Present to oversee the rehearsal were Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Datin Paduka Doktor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil and Awang Haji Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The South East Asia Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran will be held three consecutive nights. According to Dayang Hajah Noor Maslina binti Haji Sulaiman, Head officer of Youth and Sports, for the first time this year Timor Leste is invited to take part in the musabaqah. This year also will see the participation of readers from all ASEAN member countries including Timur Leste. Brunei Darussalam will be represented by Awang Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Suhaili and Dayangku Amal Zahirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri respectively. Both Brunei representatives are the champions of this year's National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran.
