A man decided to try and ride a horse bareback after two shots of vodka recently, and it ended the exact way you’d expect.

Jonny McVean had a bit of Dutch courage in him when he spotted a horse in a field during a visit to Carlisle on Wednesday.

As his girlfriend Katie filmed the spectacle Jonny tried to gain the horse’s trust before jumping on his back and going for a bareback ride.

While initially successful in his attempt, as soon as Jonny raised his arms in celebration of his first ever horse ride the animal bolted, sending Jonny tumbling to the ground with his bum on show and Katie capturing the whole thing.

Katie said: ‘He’s a bit of a joker. He obviously fancies himself as the next horse whisperer, but he’s not.’

She added that she ‘couldn’t see it properly for tears in my eyes, the horses just looked at him as if to say “idiot”‘.

The pair’s bottle of vodka was left over from the night before, but Katie persuaded Jonny to drink the dregs so she could throw the bottle away.

Luckily Jonny’s unsuccessful foray in horse riding didn’t result in any injuries (for him or the horse).

He said: ‘When I fell off I was winded but I was quite happy I didn’t break my neck.

‘I wouldn’t do it again, though I might change my mind after a bottle of vodka.’

Before Jonny left he made sure to feed his one-time mount some grass to show there are no hard feelings.
