The Sabah Government is proposing that federal allocations be channelled directly to the State agencies and ministries they were meant for.

Rural Development Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Radin Malleh told reporters at his ministry’s Corruption-Free Oath Taking programme together with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday that in the past, the practice of the federal government was to channel the funding to the state government, who would, in turn, channel the funding to the respective ministries and agencies they were meant for.

He added that it would be better if the funding from the federal government were channelled directly to the agencies and ministries concerned.

He also said that the annual federal funding to his ministry was quite huge and it would be better if the funding went directly to his ministry as they knew better how to carry out the respective allocations for their projects.

With regards to the ceremony yesterday, Radin acknowledged the importance of the awareness among civil servants on the dangers of corruption and abuse of power.

He said that the eradication of both would result in an excellent and quality civil service in Sabah.

He also said that members of the civil service must curb corruption and avoid abuse of power for the successful implementation of various development programmes that have been planned and implemented by the government.

He also mentioned that the government was implementing various initiatives and improvements which will curb corruption and abuse of power in the civil service.
