Force Integration Training Exercises Began at ADMM-Plus

BRUNEI-MUARA

The Asean Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism Exercise yesterday saw a series of Force Integration Training (FIT) exercises in the run-up to the second leg of the multi-national deployment in Singapore.

The FIT exercises are also scheduled to take place today.

"Participants are able to familiarise themselves with each other's common procedures, share knowledge and experience in maritime security and counter-terrorism as well as forge friendships that will increase regional cooperation," the organising committee said.

The programme also reaffirms the ADMM-Plus Maritime Security Communications and Command and Control (C2) architecture.

With the Royal Brunei Navy's KDB Darussalam serving as yesterday's training ground, the exercise utilised helicopters and fast boats to better enable Special Forces personnel to board target vessels.

The counter-terrorism scenario that will take place in Singapore will involve the hijacking of an LNG or oil tanker ships and offshore platforms to secure the release of a fictitious key influential figure.
