The Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory on Friday night said that specimen obtained from the wooden paddle tested positive for hazing victim Horacio Castillo III.
In the DNA Laboratory Report released by the PNP Crime Laboratory, the bloodstain taken from the white t-shirt and the body fluid on the wooden spatula were consistent with that of the victim.
The victim’s parents, Horacio Castiillo Jr. and Carmina Castillo, earlier underwent DNA testing as part of the ongoing probe.
“The male DNA profile obtained from the bloodstain taken from the white t-shirt and suspected body fluid on the wooden spatula are consistent with having come from an offspring of Horacio Jr. Castillo, y Malvar and Carmina Castillo, y Topacio,” the DNA result said.
“The probability of parentage is 99.99 percent.”
However, the PNP Crime Laboratory said “No conclusion can be reached concerning the possible contributor to the partial DNA profile obtained from cut cloth taken from a blue with white stripes boxer short’s crotch area without submission of reference sample.”
The wooden paddle that was tested was taken from the Aegis Juris library in Sampaloc, Manila.
Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) Homicide section, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), and District Special Operation Unit inspected the Aegis Juris fraternity library in Sampaloc, Manila where hazing rites on the neophyte Castillo, a first year law student at the University of Santo Tomas were held.
A source said police found at least three paddles.
The inspection of the supposed crime scene occurred 12 days after the hazing rites were held.
